Mwaiseni Mukwai

Tangila Trail Series is Zambia’s premier trail event. Held on Masebe Ranch, a scenic private game reserve in the heart of the Mkushi farm block, the event attracts a diverse group of participants from all corners of Zambia and beyond.

We feature three signature trail run options: a tame 11 km for beginners, a hilly 22 km for more ambitious runners, and a demanding 33 km with a strict 4-hour cut-off for seasoned athletes. Tangila Trail Series also hosts the intensely competitive Solomon Chidunuka Memorial Challenge, bringing together scouts and support staff from conservation organizations across the country to honor a true hero of African conservation.

All profits from the event are donated to local conservation education initiatives.

While Tangila Trail Series will not take place in 2026, this is not goodbye. We looking forward to reviving the event in the future and returning to the stunning trails that first brought us together back in 2016. Our thanks to the loyal volunteers, sponsors, and participants who have been a part of our story thus far.

Our Story

At its heart, Tangila Trail Series is about gratitude. Zambia has been very good to my family and we feel fortunate to call it home. My grandparents started farming in Mkushi in 1965 and my parents, Don and Marianthe, started their adventure on a nearby property in 1978. For 40 years they have developed Masebe Ranch with care and determination, creating the beautiful environment that my brother Rob and I feel so lucky to call home. What better way to acknowledge our good fortune than to share it with others.

The first Tangila Trail Series was held in 2016 and, with the support of the people closest to us, has grown into something of which we are all enormously proud. As you run through this special place, take a moment to reflect on all that you are grateful for - and how you might share this in a way that brings us all closer together and helps to protect the beautiful and vulnerable wild places of Zambia.
